Ryan Penhallegon’s practice focuses on business and commercial litigation and business transactions with an emphasis on debtor/creditor rights, insolvency, and real estate matters.
Mr. Penhallegon’s practice is divided between “in-court” and “out of court” work. Mr. Penhallegon’s “in-court” practice includes bankruptcy and commercial litigation and representing clients in a wide-range of business, real estate and commercial disputes with a particular emphasis on debtor/creditor rights and insolvency matters. Mr. Penhallegon has tried or arbitrated a number of cases, participated in numerous mediations, and has considerable experience dealing with matters involving real estate, bankruptcy, and financial insolvency.
Mr. Penhallegon’s “out of court” practice includes business acquisitions and dispositions, business formations and structuring, commercial leasing, and real estate purchase and sales. Mr. Penhallegon frequently serves as outside general counsel to business clients whom he advises on business, real estate, construction and commercial law and related matters. Mr. Penhallegon’s experience includes negotiating and drafting a wide-range of contracts and business agreements, including buy-sell agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, commercial leases, loan and financing agreements, and employment related agreements.
Prior to joining SLG, Mr. Penhallegon worked at a boutique business bankruptcy firm where he focused on debtor/creditor rights, representing debtors and creditors in and out of bankruptcy court, and on related corporate and real estate law matters. Mr. Penhallegon started his career at a law firm specializing in real estate and construction law where he represented owners, developers, and contractors in a wide-range of real estate, construction, and business matters. Mr. Penhallegon is a member of both the California and Washington State bars and a licensed real estate broker. Mr. Penhallegon is also a member of the Board of Advisors for the Central YMCA of Silicon Valley and a member of the Congressman Dan Edwards Inns of Court and the William A. Ingram Inns of Court.
